Program Overview

The MBA program is designed to prepare individuals from a variety of backgrounds to develop the advanced business acumen and leadership skills to advance in their careers. The program offers two unique MBA types: a Professional MBA delivered in a fully online format and an Early Career MBA delivered in-person with optional online electives. Additionally, an MBA in Agribusiness is available.

Program Types

Early Career MBA

The Early Career MBA is designated primarily for individuals with less than five years of professional, post-bachelor's experience. Core courses are delivered in-person, with numerous elective options offered in a variety of delivery methods. Students may be enrolled full-time or part-time. Key features include:

Professional MBA

The Professional MBA program is open to individuals with five or more years of professional, post-bachelor's experience. Courses are held either asynchronously or synchronously in the evening. Students typically enroll part-time. Key features include:

• Five or more years of experience required
• 100% online
• In-state tuition rate

Curriculum

The Early Career and Professional MBA programs share a set of common core courses that address fundamental business principles from a managerial perspective. Core course sections are held in-person for the Early Career MBA and online for the Professional MBA. Additional core courses for the Professional MBA, aimed at organizational leadership, may be taken as electives in the Early Career program. A wide variety of additional elective course options are available to students in either program.

Course Requirements

Students should have basic proficiency in accounting, finance, economics, management, marketing, and statistics before completing their MBA core courses. Proficiency will be determined based upon academic and professional experience, evaluated via review of the applicant's transcripts and resume. Applicants deficient in one or more course areas may be required to complete an online, self-paced course module to achieve foundational proficiency.

Admission Requirements

Admission applications are reviewed on a rolling admission basis. Application files must be completed with all required official documents before they will be reviewed. Admission decisions will not be made based upon incomplete application files or unofficial documentation. Required application materials include:

• Official GMAT or GRE score
• Proof of English Proficiency

English Proficiency

All applicants must demonstrate proof of English proficiency in order to be considered for graduate admission. Proof of English proficiency must be demonstrated in one or more of the following ways:

• Applicant was raised in a country in which English is the only official language
• Applicant has earned a bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized institution within a country in which English is the only official language
• Applicant submits an official English language test score (TOEFL iBT: 71 or higher, IELTS academic: 6.0 or higher, PTE academic: 50 or higher, or Duolingo: 105 or higher)

Tuition and Fees

MBA students are charged the graduate business differential tuition rate. Students in the Online Professional MBA are assessed the ND in-state rate, regardless of residency. Students in the In-Person/Hybrid Early Career MBA are assessed the appropriate rate based on their residency. The tuition rates are as follows:

• North Dakota Residents / WRGP Region Residents / Online Students: $746.82 per credit, $22,405 total (30 credits)
• Approved Minnesota Residents: $929.71 per credit, $27,891 total (30 credits)
• All Other U.S. Residents: $1,085.48 per credit, $32,564 total (30 credits)
• International Students: $1,254.76 per credit, $37,643 total (30 credits)

Financial Assistance

Graduate assistantship opportunities within the College of Business are limited. All MBA students are admitted without funding. However, there may be case-by-case opportunities to apply for graduate assistantship positions after having gained admission to the program. Current students receive priority consideration over newly-admitted/incoming students. Scholarships are also limited, and current graduate students may apply for scholarships by submitting the general university scholarship application during the application window. Many companies provide educational benefits to their employees, and students are encouraged to speak with their supervisor and/or Human Resources department to see if such a program exists. U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens may qualify to be considered for federal student aid by completing the FAFSA.
