Program Overview

Specialist Training: Mindfulness in a One-to-One Context

Course Overview

This three-day specialist training is designed for individuals interested in bringing mindfulness into a one-to-one context. Participants will engage in an experiential learning process, developing relational skills and understanding, while considering implementation in their particular setting.

Target Audience

This short course is suitable for both experienced mindfulness-based teachers as an opportunity to refresh their personal and teaching practice, and newer teachers who are in the earlier stages of developing teaching skills. The course will be of particular interest to those who:

  • Are interested in exploring mindfulness in the context of their professional lives and work one-to-one, such as coaches, therapists, yoga teachers, physiotherapists, chaplains, nurses, complementary therapists, teachers, carers, community health workers, etc.
  • Have previously trained to teach a mindfulness-based program curriculum and want to learn how to deliver it within a one-to-one context.
  • Are mindfulness teachers who want to deepen into the relational aspect of mindfulness practice.

Course Objectives

The aim of this short course is to support the learner to:

  • Learn, and practice, specific relational mindfulness skills.
  • Experience the ways these skills can be used within a one-to-one context.

  • Learn ways to tailor the delivery of mindfulness in one-to-one settings.
  • Understand specific considerations for one-to-one work, including implications for guiding practice, establishing a learning container in which mindfulness can be safely and effectively explored, and exploring specific learning themes relevant to mindfulness.
