Modules are delivered using a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops and computer practicals. lectures Lectures provide you with an introduction to the concepts and theories of Economics. All the necessary materials for each lecture are available on our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Tutorials Tutorials are supported by VLE Activities to prepare you for the tutorial and aid understanding. Tutorials provide you with the opportunity to discuss topics in more depth, supported by an academic. As you develop your knowledge you will be encouraged to engage in debates with your peers to further your understanding. Online Discussion Forums Online Discussion Forums will be available for every module on the VLE. You will not be required to respond to discussion prompts on forums; however, the discussions are an opportunity for you to engage in debate with your peers. Seminars In seminars, your lecturers and academic member of professional body staff, will share their research findings and insights with you, stimulating you to reflect on the field of Economics. Computer Practicals Computer practicals enable you to apply your economics skills and theoretical knowledge using statistical packages such as STATA and Eviews. Practical sessions are designed to equip you with practical data analysis skills, which are in high demand by employers within the Economics and Finance sector. Workshops Workshops help you to develop essential academic and subject-based skills such as Essay Writing and Data Analysis, which will enhance your employability. Independent Study You will be required to undertake much of your learning independently, through private study, scheduled and non-scheduled sessions in our dedicated Economics computer store, our general access computers and laptops, CANVAS and our library.
