The accessible learning approach reflects the commitment to the Connected University, where staff from the School of Mathematical Sciences support students in making meaningful connections across the breadth of mathematics, statistics, and computing technology.

Research Opportunities with Industrial Partners

Select students will have the opportunity to couple their research projects with industry-based internships, working within professional research and development teams with industry partners such as Cadence and TOMRA.

Skills and Careers Information

Graduates with quantitative skills and expertise in mathematical modelling are in high demand in the industry. The program aims to provide graduates with the competitive edge of knowledge into the mathematics that operate under the hood of modern modelling techniques. Graduates from the MSc program have secured jobs in areas such as banking, financial trading, consultancy, online gambling firms, software development, logistics, data analysis, and with companies such as AIB, McAfee, Fexco, DeCare Systems, the Tyndall Institute, First Derivative, KPMG, TOMRA, Cadence, and Qualcomm.

Requirements

Applicants must have obtained at least a Second Class Honours Grade I in a primary honours degree (National Framework of Qualifications, Level 8) or equivalent in a numerate discipline. Applicants are expected to have taken courses in mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics at the university level and be familiar with calculus, vectors, matrices, and elementary statistics.

Fees and Costs

The EU fee for this course is 8,000, and the Non-EU fee is 28,000.

How to Apply

Applications can be made online through the UCC online application portal. Scanned copies of supporting documents, including original qualification documents and transcripts, must be uploaded to the portal. The closing date for non-EU applications is open until all places have been filled or no later than June 15th. Early application is advised.

Program Outline

Degree Overview:

This BA (Hons) Fine Art with Digital Photography degree allows students to develop their skills in traditional art techniques like drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and textiles, while incorporating digital and lens-based art. The course emphasizes the importance of digital skills for future career opportunities and encourages students to embrace new technologies.

Objectives:

The program aims to:

  • Develop hands-on skills in traditional art techniques and digital media.
  • Provide access to personal studio space for individual exploration and development.
  • Foster a student-centered learning environment where students are encouraged to explore boundaries, techniques, and ideas.
  • Equip students with the skills and knowledge to find their own style and material practice.
  • Offer a flexible structure allowing students to choose their areas of focus and self-determine the direction of their practice.
  • Provide instruction from research-active tutors and technicians who are practicing artists themselves.
  • Offer opportunities for students to exhibit their work regularly, culminating in the final Degree Show.
  • Develop students' creative, communication, digital, and transferable key skills alongside vocational skills through work placements.

Outline:

Year One:
